Parish Council - Village News meeting summary May 2021

Summary of the Annual and Ordinary meeting of the Parish Council on 4th May 2021 for Ansty, Higher Ansty and Melcombe Bingham and Hilton


Parish Councillors present: Justine McGuiness (Chairman), Catherine Langham, Shulla Jaques, Clive Jones, Marion Walbridge and George Sotiriadis. Clerk: David Green


Cllr Justine McGuiness was elected to continue as Chairman for the forthcoming year with Cllr Catherine Langham continuing as Vice-Chairman.


Planning applications considered:


Application reference P/FUL/2021/00174 Construct outdoor swimming pool and lightweight pool maintenance shed, Hilton House Village Road, Hilton, Dorset, DT11 0DD


Application reference P/HOU/2021/00649 Demolish existing garage & erect new garage, Hartwell House Hartfoot Lane, Ansty, Dorset, DT2 7PF


There were no objections to either of these proposals which have the full support of the Parish Council.


The outcome of the parish sewerage survey was discussed. The Council has agreed following advice from Wessex Water, which has indicated that the scheme would not be viable, that the application would not be taken further. Full details of the sewerage survey results are shown in a separate article.


A damaged stile near Brewery Farm will be reported to Dorset Rangers.


A hazardous bend near Mappowder has been looked at by the Community Highways Officer, but no further action has been deemed to be necessary, other than the clearance of a blocked drain.


The problem of ash die-back within the parish continues to be monitored.


The legislation permitting the holding of Parish Council meetings by remote means has not been renewed by HM Government. The Parish Council is considering how and where the next meeting will be held, but it will be on Tuesday 6th July 2021 at 7.00 p.m.
